When I started weaving I frantically wanted to try all sorts of weavings; the more intricate and difficult, the better!
I learned a lot and after a while – when the weaving dust had settled – I could still be fascinated by difficult weavings with bright colours and intricate patterns but there was no interest anymore in weaving it myself. I had entered the stage in which I had realized what – at this moment – suits me best, what fits me, what I like. And, where I had found the classic weaves, boring and too easy when I started weaving, I now know I like the classic herringbone and ‘pieds de poule’ weaves. I like them a bit cheeky, with interesting colour changes but it is fascinating to see that these ‘easy’ classic weaves are in itself intriguing. That is probably why they are ‘classics’ 😉
