When I started weaving I tried all sorts of weavings; the more intricate and difficult, the better!

I learned a lot and after a while – when the weaving ‘dust’ had settled – I could still be fascinated by difficult weavings with bright colours and intricate patterns, but there was no interest anymore in weaving them myself. I had entered the stage in which I had realized what suits me best, what fits me, what I like. And, where I had found the classic weaves boring and too easy when I started weaving, I now know I like the classic herringbone, barley corn and ‘pieds de poule’ weaves. It is fascinating to see that these ‘easy’ classic weaves are in itself intriguing. That is probably why they are ‘classics’ 😉
